Dr. Johns graduated from the University of Pittsburgh in Chemical Engineering. He completed medical school at Hahnemann University, Philadelphia, PA and his residency in Ophthalmology at the University of Texas in Galveston. Dr. Johns is board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology. He is a member of the American Academy of Ophthlalmology.
Dr. Johns established his practice in Parkersburg, WV in 1982 introducing fluorescein anigography, laser procedures of the retina and extracapsular cataract surgery. His practice relocated to its present location, 7 Rosemar Circle, in 1985. He retired from cataract surgery in 2009 and continues his interest in medical diseases of the eye with an interest in glaucoma, diabetes, double vision, dry eyes, migraines, and shingles.
Dr. Johns is a native of Pittsburgh. He and his wife have raised two children while residing in Parkersburg. Dr. Johns enjoys bicycling.
